DIGSTATS

The quantitative approach used in business and manufacturing to improve product quality has introduced the need for a wide range of students to be aware of basic statistical and data analysis techniques. DIGSTATS is an Internet resource for integrating statistics and data visualization into mathematics and science courses in secondary schools, community colleges and undergraduate programs.

This pedagogical approach allows students to begin to build a "cognitive chunk" of statistical and graphical analysis knowledge they can use later or on the job or in courses that incorporate mathematical theory and calculations. Activities engage students in the statistical and graphical analysis of "real world" data sets and the exploration of three-dimensional data spaces using a Java 3-D Slicer.
