Use the following URL to find the current National Radar Summary, and try to determine WHERE the greatest severe weather threats can be found. (Since this course is offered in the spring, many days will feature some sort of convective event that can be evaluated).
Use the notes on squall lines and supercells to try to determine where severe weather threat is highest.
You can zoom into an active region by clicking on the US map...
Once you locate an active region, go to the link below and access a local Nexrad from the area. Again, you can determine severe weather locations and even supercell radar signatures from these radar images.
If the weather is quiet on the day you check into these sites, try again later that day or the next. During the spring in the U.S., there are not many days when you can't find some sort of convection firing.
