May 22. Several chase teams, an I-MAX film crew shooting a movie about tornadoes, and the Doppler-on-Wheels trucks gather at a travel plaza in Grand Island Nebraska. With such an assemblage, the locals began to feel somewhat uneasy about what type of weather they had coming in the near future. This was the easiest chase of the trip, as a tornadic storm formed only 30 miles from our roadside location. We spent nearly 5 hours here, throwing football and frisbee...waiting for storms to fire.
