The maturing tornado begins to bear down on Rt. 183 between Holdrege and Alma, Nebraska. Several chase teams and the DOW's were located on this road. The ONLY escape route was southbound, as radar indicated hail to 4.5" in diameter crossing the road north of this area. Our team raced southward as the tornado closed in to within 1/2 mile of the road.
